GPI is seeking a highly motivated, detail oriented, part-time (hourly) employee to conduct GIS field data collection of roadway information including signage in South Jersey (Atlantic, Cape May, Salem, & Cumberland counties). College students and recent college graduates are encouraged to apply.
The successful applicant will be part of a two-person crew and will be responsible for collecting roadway data from within the vehicle throughout the day. The vehicle and hardware needed to conduct the inventory will be provided. Candidate must be available during all weekdays, except for holidays, from September through the end of November 2018. Typical work hours are 8am-5pm, however, longer days may be required and hours may vary. Work is not performed on days of inclement weather.
Skills and Abilities:
  • Strong inclination for technology and ability to troubleshoot technical issues in the field
  • Working knowledge of computers and Android and Microsoft products - highly tech savvy is a plus
  • Familiarity with Google Maps
  • Understanding of GIS mapping computer software (point locations with field attributes)
  • Knowledge of MUTCD (Manual or Uniform Traffic Control Devices) a plus, but not required

Position Requirements
Minimum Requirements:
  • Qualified candidate must have a valid driver's license and retain a clean motor vehicle report (MVR) for final consideration.
  • Ability to read and understand plans and direction given in the English language
  • Ability to write in English
  • Basic computer skills
    • Ability to create and or edit Microsoft Word documents
    • Ability to create and or edit Microsoft Excel documents
    • Ability to create and or edit Microsoft Exchange emails with attachments
  • Possess the ability to stand on your feet for approximately 3 hours minimum a day up to 8 hours a day.
  • Be able to wear GPI standard PPE, i.e. hard hats, safety vest, work boots, safety glasses/goggles
  • Some level of education in a post-high school, 2/yr. or 4/yr. degree program required
  • GIS and/or engineering experience is a plus, but not required

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
